Students will but guided through engaging activities that teach research skills using various media such as online articles, an included text reading, and a documentary.
 
Scavenger hunts, BINGO and more help add an element of fun to the research process. We also believe that students typically don’t get near enough immersion in a topic before they write and so these projects are heavy on content immersion so that your students will KNOW what they’re talking about when they write. It also helps them work with the information in multiple ways so that they aren’t just copying and pasting information.
 
After the research phase they’ll be guided through developing a strong and clear opinion thesis statement and then writing a thorough opinion essay. The cut and paste prompts teach the HOW of writing and the format. They’ll also look at examples of opinion essays so they have a reference (how many times are students expected to write a format they’ve never read? A lot!).
