Explore the Mongol Empire through our new history unit study “The Age of the Khans”!
The Mongol Empire, one of the largest empires in history, rose from the steppes of Central Asia to conquer vast territories across Eurasia. Led by legendary figures like Genghis Khan and Kublai Khan, the Mongols employed innovative military tactics and advanced organization to establish a vast and interconnected realm. Their conquests had a profound impact on global trade, culture, and technology.

This 13 lesson plan unit will take you roughly 4 weeks if you’re tackling it 3-4x per week. Some assignments will run longer than one day. The unit is geared to grades 7-10 but could be used for a greater range with supports and/or higher expectations.
I personally use these units as our history/social studies but ALSO as English Language Arts units as it tackles ELA outcomes almost every lesson. 2 birds one stone. All about that efficiency!
I’m slowly building an entire year long middle ages course! If you’re interested check out the European Middle Ages, The Age of Pirates and The Age of Vikings units!
