This activity based deep dive is an excellent companion to the much loved book, “My Side of the Mountain” by Jean Craighead George. Students will participate in several writing activities such as drawing connections of the nicknames like Thoreau to real people, writing about and locating past family land, writing why they’d take certain items into the wild and  more.
 
The study also includes art activities such as drawing tutorials, collage and building with clay. Additionally students will engage in various hands on activities that Sam did in the book.
