Ages 10-15
Waypoint (noun) - a stop on the journey.
Waypoints is a new travel curriculum by Wonder House Creative and our first destination is the Canadian Maritimes + Newfoundland & Labrador! The East Coast is distinct from the rest of Canada and in this study geared for ages 10-15 you’ll get to immerse yourself in the maritimes and experience it in a multidisciplinary fashion (aka deep dive).
Waypoints in this study:
- Historical Waypoint: First Peoples & Mi’kmaq
- Viking Settlement at L’Anse aux Meadows
- Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia
- Iceberg Alley, NFLD & Labrador
- Newfoundland & their dialect
- Bay of Fundy, NB & NS
- Atlantic Ocean Lobster Fishing
- PEI home of Anne of Green Gables
- Confederation Bridge (NB and PEI)
- Maritimes Sea Shanties
- All 4 provinces
This 60 page study includes 13 highly engaging and creative lessons plus a final review game “Waypoints” where you’ll be racing a hurricane to collect postcards and save the waypoints by acting, drawing, using code words and answering trivia.
The teacher’s guide includes a possible timeline (3x per week for almost 5 weeks), a lesson breakdown and an outcome breakdown.
Additionally - you can purchase the Canadian Maritimes Early Learning Pack (ages 3-7) separately to create a family style learning unit. It also works great as a stand alone if you don’t have older kids. The ELP includes 45 pages of activities including crafts, word/letter pages, a 3D fishing village, cutting, tracing, maze and more!
